Kaufman Music Center Ann Goodman Recital Hall to Showcase ‘Children Music Fundraising Recital’

By David Salazar

The Kaufman Music Center Ann Goodman Recital Hall will present a “Children Music Fundraising Recital” on Sept. 20, 2024.

The event will feature Felix Jarrar alongside Anush Avetisyan and Matthew Cossack as the explore works by Dvorak, Ives, Bernstein, and two pieces by Jarrar. The recital aims to raise $5,000 for the nonprofit organization Kaufman Music Center’s children’s education center.

Per an official press release, one of Avetisyan’s sisters passed last year. She commenced a journey as a runner to bring herself closer to her sister, who was also a runner growing up. All the marathons she has run over the past year have been dedicated to her sister’s memory. The soprano also noted that her sister was a guitarist and that a recording of “ Para Ninos” will be featured at the end of the recital.

“Music was a refuge for us and I want that same gift to be given to every child who needs it. People’s attendance in this recital will echo in bigger ways then they know. Sharing the word, donating will give a child the gift of music making which is one of the great gifts of this world.

The event will be live streamed on Instagram.
