Kathryn Lewek & Sarah Coit Lead Toledo Opera’s 2023-24 Season

Ohio’s Toledo Opera has announced its lineup for the 2023-24 season.

For its 65th season, the company will present three much-loved operatic works.

First up is Gioachino Rossini’s “Cinderella.” The classic fairytale stars mezzo-soprano Sarah Coit as Angelina (Cinderella) and tenor David Walton as Prince Ramiro. Also among the cast are Adelmo Guidarelli, Keith Phares, Sara Mortensen, Imara Miles, and Jason Budd. Marc Verzatt directs. Douglas Kinney Frost conducts. This production is sung in Italian with English supertitles provided.

Performance Dates: October 6 & 8, 2023

Next is “Romeo & Juliet” by Charles Gounod. The real-life couple tenor Zach Borichevsky and soprano Kathryn Lewek sing the title roles. James Mitchell directs the cast in a 15th-century of the Montagues and the Capulets’ family feud. Adam Turner conducts.

Performance Dates: February 16 & 18, 2024

Closing the Toledo Opera’s season is a semi-staged production of Stephen Flaherty and Lynn Ahrens’ “Ragtime.” Baritone Derrick Davis, soprano Raquel Suarez Groen, and baritone Joshua Jeremiah star in the 13-time Tony Awards® nominated musical exploring social divides in 20th-century America. Tateh. J. Ernest Green returns to the Toledo Opera pit. James M. Norman directs.

Performance Dates: April 19 & 21, 2024
