DACAMERA and The Shepherd School of Music have announced the cast for its world premiere performance of Matthew Aucoin and Peter Sellars’ “Music for New Bodies.”

The showcase, scheduled for April 20, 2024 at The Shepherd School of Music’s Brockman Hall for Opera, will feature Kathryn Lewek, Meryl Dominguez, Rachael Wilson, Brenton Ryan, and Cory McGee. Aucoin conducts while Sellars directs the work.

“’Music for New Bodies’ is a leap into uncharted musical territory… It [addresses] some of the most urgent questions of our time: in our quest for immortality, what has the human species done to the planet, and what are we doing to ourselves,” said Aucoin in an official press statement.

The work is inspired by the writings of poet Jorie Graham and author Rachel Carson and explores evolving human responses to the environment.

The world premiere is presented as part of the UNSILENT SPRING Festival.
