Kathleen Battle, Thomas Hampson, Matthew Polenzani & Jamie Barton Lead Chamber Society of Lincoln Center’s 2024-25 Season

The Chamber Society of Lincoln Center has announced its 2024-25 season featuring a number of vocal performances. Here is a look.

The company will present an Opening Night concert entitled “Haydn’s Suprise” dedicated to Haydn. Soloists include Stephanie Blythe, Michael Stephen Brown, Wu Han, Aaron Boyd, Daniel Phillips, Pinchas Zukerman, Paul Neubauer, David Finckel, Nina Bernat, and the Viano Quartet.

Performance Date: Oct. 15, 2024

Beethiven’s Trilogy 1 will feature music by Beethoven, Corigliano, and Brahms. Paul Appleby joins soloists Juho Pohjonen, Sahun Sam Hong, Stella Chen, Chad Hoopes, Paul Neubauer, Dmitri Atapine, Sooyun Kim, James Austin Smith, and Tommaso Lonquich.

Performance Date: Oct. 25, 2024

Schubert’s “Schwanengesang” will be performed by Matthew Polenzani. The concert will include Gloria Chien, Ken Noda, Sean Lee, Richard Lin, Milena Pájaro-van de Stadt, and Nicholas Canellakis. The concert will also showcase music by Schumann.

Performance Date: Nov. 9, 2024

Jamie Barton and Randall Scarlata are set to perform a new program “Sonic Spectrum II” with music by Brahms, Joel Thompson, Carlos Simon, and Perry Goldstein. They will be joined by  Tamar Sanikidze, Gilles Vonsattel, Philip Setzer, Matthew Lipman, and Paul Watkins.

Performance Date: Jan. 23, 2025

Vanessa Becerra performs “Spanish Journey” with music by Obradors, Albéniz, Arbós, Falla, Sarasate, Rodrigo, and Turina. The program will also include musicians Soyeon Kate Lee, Kristin Lee, Clive Greensmith, and Jason Vieaux.

Performance Date: Feb. 1, 2025

The company will hold a tribute to CMS’s Founding Artistic Director Charles Wadsworth featuring performances by Kathleen Battle, Frederica von Stade, Ben Bliss, and Thomas Hampson. The gala will include music by Schumann as well as musicians Ken Noda, Wu Han, Francisco Fullana, Chad Hoopes, Paul Neubauer, Sterling Elliott, Nina Bernat, and David Washburn.

Performance Dates: May 1 & 2, 2025

Tony Arnold performs “Beethoven Trilogy III” which will feature music by Montegomery, Widmann, and Tan Dunn. Other soloists include Gloria Chien, Kristin Lee, Tien-Hsin Cindy Wu, Paul Neubauer, Sihao He, Wu Man, and the Juilliard String Quartet.
