Kate Lindsey, Natalya Romaniw, Pumeza Matshikiza & Sean Panikkar Lead English National Opera’s 2021-22 Season

The English National Opera has announced its 2021-22 Season featuring new productions of classic and modern masterpieces.

Natalya Romaniw, David Junghoon Kim, Roland Wood, and William Thomas star in Puccini’s “Tosca” in a semi-staged production conducted by Richard Farnes.

Performance Dates: August 27 & 29, 2021

Carolyn Kuan conducts Glass’ “Satyagraha” with Sean Panikkar, Musa Ngqungwana, William Thomas, Sarah Pring, Felicity Buckland, Gabriella Cassidy, James Cleverton, and Ross Ramgobin.

Performance Dates: Oct. 14-28, 2021

Sullivan’s “HMS Pinafore” will be presented in a production by Cal McCrystal. Chris Hopkins conducts a cast that includes Les Dennis, Elgan Llŷr Thomas, Alexandra Oomens, John Savournin, Hilary Summers, Henry Waddington, Marcus Farnsworth, and Bethan Langford.

Performance Dates: Oct. 29-Dec. 11, 2021

Richard Jones directs a new production of Wagner’s “Die Walküre” with Matthew Rose, Rachel Nicholls, Nicky Spence, Emma Bell, Brindley Sherratt, and Susan Bickley. Martyn Brabbins and Anthony Negus conduct the new co-production with the Metropolitan Opera.

Performance Dates: Nov. 19-Dec. 10, 2021

Puccini’s “La bohème” is set to star Sinéad Campbell-Wallace, Nadine Benjamin, David Junghoon Kim, Charles Rice, Louise Alder, William Thomas, Benson Wilson, and Alex Otterburn. The new production will be conducted by Ben Glassberg.

Performance Dates: Jan. 31-Feb. 27, 2022

Janacek’s “The Cunning Little Vixen” will be directed by Jamie Manton and conducted by Martyn Brabbins. Sally Matthews, Pumeza Matshikiza, Lester Lynch, Madeleine Shaw, Alan Oke, Clive Bayley, John Findon, Sarah-Jane Lewis, Claire Barnett-Jones, Alexandra Oomens, and Ffion Edwards star.

Performance Dates: Feb. 18-March 1, 2022

Nardus Williams, Benson Wilson, Soraya Mafi, Hanna Hipp, Amitai Pati, and Neal Davies star in Mozart’s “Così Fan Tutte” with Kerem Hasan conducting.

Performance Dates: March 10-22, 2022

Poul Ruders’s “The Handmaid’s Tale” will star Kate Lindsey, Emma Bell, Soloman Howard, Raehann Bryce-Davis, Frederick Ballentine, Rhian Lois, Pumeza Matshikiza, Elin Pritchard, Madeleine Shaw, Alan Oke, Susan Bickley, and John Findon. Joana Carneiro conducts the production by Annilese Miskimmon.

Performance Dates: April 4-14, 2022
