Katarina Bradić, Vlada Borovko & Egils Silins Lead Staatstheater Kassel 2020-21 Season

The Staatstheater Kassel has announced the complete casts for its 2020-21 season.

Here is the full rundown.

Premieres

L’Ultimo Sogno,” one act opera by Giuseppe Verdi and Carlo Ciceri will feature Vlada Borovko in the role of Violetta Valéry, Giordano Lucà as Alfredo Germont, while Cozmin Sime and Hansung Yoo will alternate in the role of Giorgio Germont.

The cast also includes Lena Langenbacher, Maren Engelhardt, Bassem Alkhouri, Daniel Holzhauser, Henning Leiner, Ilyeol Park, and Hee Saup Yoon. Francesco Angelico and Mario Hartmuth will conduct the production by Bruno Klimek.

Performance dates: Oct. 2, 2020 – May 22, 2021

Rossini’s “La Cenerentola” will showcase Younggi Moses Do as Don Ramiro, Cozmin Sime as Dandini, Marc-Olivier Oetterli in the role of Don Magnifico, and Vero Miller in the title role. The cast will also include Daniela Vega, Elizabeth Bailey, Hee Saup Yoon, Hannah Ruth Breuker, and Aurora Magrí.

Alexander Hannemann and Deniola Kuraja will conduct the production by Adriana Altaras.

Performance dates: Oct. 5 – Nov. 13, 2020

La tragédie de Carmen” will star Katarina Bradić and Marina Prudenskaya in the title role, Milen Bozhkov as Don José, Markus Nieminen and Hansung Yoo in the role of Escamillo, and Jaclyn Bermudez and Ani Yorentz alternating in the role of Micaëla.

Mario Hartmuth conducts the production by Bernd Mottl.

Premiere date: Dec. 12, 2020

Dvořák’ “Rusalka” will spotlight Michael Hauenstein as Vodnik, Richard Samek in the role of Prinz, Susan McLean As Ježibaba, and Ani Yorentz in the title role. The cast also includes Cozmin Sime, Vero Miller, Inna Kalinina, Jaclyn Bermudez, and Maren Engelhardt.

Francesco Angelico and Alexander Hannemann will conduct the production by Thaddeus Strassberger.

Premiere date: Feb. 13, 2021

Handel’s “Alcina” will feature Maren Engelhardt as Ruggiero, Lin Lin Fan as Morgana, Marta Herman as Bradamante, Younggi Moses Do in the role of Oronte, Daniel Holzhauser as Melisso, and Elizabeth Bailey in the title role.

Jörg Halubek will conduct the production by Markus Bothe.

Premiere date: March 27, 2021

Britten’s “The Rape of Lucretia” is the final new production in the season. The opera will showcase Marta Herman as Bianca, Geani Brad in the role of Junius, Cozmin Sime as Tarquinius, and Ulrike Schneider in the title role. The cast also includes Daniel Jenz, Jaclyn Bermudez, Marc-Olivier Oetterli, and Lena Langenbacher.

Mario Hartmuth conducts the production by Aniara Amos.

Premiere date: June 26, 2021

Revivals

Hänsel und Gretel” will feature Maren Engelhardt as Hänsel, Ani Yorentz as Gretel, Daniel Holzhauser in the role of Peter, and Ulrike Schneider as Gertrud. The cast is rounded out by Michael Gniffke and Lena Langenbacher.

Alexander Hannemann conducts the production by Elmar Gehlen.

Performance dates: Nov. 21 – 28, 2020

Wagner’s Ring cycle has been directed by Markus Dietz. Francesco Angelico will conduct.

Das Rheingold” will feature Bjarni Thor Kristinsson in the role of Wotan, Hansung Yoo as Donner, Dean Power as Froh, Lothar Odinius in the role of Loge, Thomas Gazheli as Alberich, Arnold Bezuyen in the role of Mime, Marc-Olivier Oetterli as Fasolt, Andrew Harris as Fafner, Ulrike Schneider in the role of Fricka, and Jaclyn Bermudez as Freia. The cast also includes Edna Prochnik, Vero Miller, Marta Herman, and Elizabeth Bailey.

Performance date: May 5, 2021

Die Walküre” will spotlight Egils Silins in the role of Wotan, Martin Iliev as Siegmund, Nadja Stefanoff as Sieglinde, Yorck Felix Speer in the role of Hunding, and Nancy Weißbach as Brünnhilde. The cast also includes Ulrike Schneider, Doris Neidig, Jaclyn Bermudez, Barbara Senator, Maren Engelhardt, Vero Miller, Inna Kalinina, and Marta Herman.

Performance date: May 9, 2021

Siegfried” will showcase Arnold Bezuyen in the role of Mime, Egils Silins as Der Wanderer, Thomas Gazheli as Alberich, Andrew Harris as Fafner, Kelly Cae Hogan in the role of Brünnhilde, and Zoltán Nyári in the title role. The cast also includes Edna Prochnik, Elizabeth Bailey, and Dalia Velandia.

Performance date: May 13, 2021

Finally, “Götterdämmerung” will star Kelly Cae Hogan in the role of Brünnhilde, Hansung Yoo as Gunther, Stephen Milling as Hagen, Thomas Gazheli as Alberich, Jaclyn Bermudez in the role of Gutrune, and Ulrike Schneider as Waltraute. The cast will also include Marta Herman, Vero Miller, Doris Neidig, Elizabeth Bailey, and Dalia Velandia.
