
Karina Canellakis Extends Contract with Radio Filharmonisch Orkest

Karina Canellakis has announced that she will extend her contract as Chief Conductor of the Radio Filharmonisch Orkest.
The American conductor said, “I am very happy to announce that I will stay Chief Conductor of the Radio Filharmonisch Orkest through to 2031. I am proud of how beautifully this orchestra plays and excited about the way we continue to deepen our musical journey with passion and dedication. There are some thrilling projects on the horizon, and I look forward to the next chapter of this wonderful collaboration.”
Canellakis began as Chief Conductor in 2019 and became the first female conductor to be named Chief Conductor of the RFO. She was also the first female conductor to be named chief conductor of any Dutch orchestra. With the orchestra, Canellakis has commercial recordings for Deutsche Grammophon and PENTATONE.
