Karen Slack & Zachary James Lead Reimagined Opera Omaha 2020-21 Season

In response to the ongoing COVID-19 concerns, Opera Omaha has made some necessary changes to the 2020-21 season in order to ensure the safety of the audiences and the safety of its artists and staff.

The season will open with a production of Mozart and Da Ponte’s “Le Nozze di Figaro.” Mary Feminear will appear in the role of Countess Almaviva, and Michael Adams will perform the role of Count Almaviva. They will be joined onstage by Lauren Michelle as Susanna, and Sidney Outlaw in the role of Figaro. The cast will also include Rod Nelman, Victoria Livengood, Annie Rosen, Michael Kuhn, Matthew Sommer, and Karina Brazas.

Steven White will conduct the production by Dean Anthony.

Performance dates: February 26 & 28, 2021

The second production in the reimagined season will be Stephen Sondheim’s masterwork “Sweeney Todd.” The opera will star Emily Pulley in the role of Mrs. Lovett, and Zachary James in his Opera Omaha debut as Sweeney Todd. The cast will be rounded out by Ashley Emerson, Jonathan Johnson, Rod Nelman, Michael Kuhn, Jason Ferrante, Katy Lindhart, Barry Banks, and Nils Haaland.

Hal France will conduct the production by Susan Clement-Toberer.

Performance dates: April 16 & 18, 2021

Finally, an evening of Wagner & Strauss will see the Opera Omaha join forces with Omaha Symphony Orchestra stepping out of the orchestra pit. Soprano Karen Slack and baritone Craig Irvin will be the soloists. Pablo Rus Broseta will conduct.

Performance dates: April 23 & 24, 2021
