Karen Slack, Siman Chung, Magid El-Bushra, David Pomeroy, Etta Fung Headline Edmonton Opera’s 2022-23 Season

Edmonton Opera has announced its 2022-23 season.

This season will be the first under artistic director Joel Ivany and will feature three opera productions.

“Tosca” will kick off the new season in a production by Alison Moritz. Simon Rivard conducts a cast starring Karen Slack, David Pomeroy, and Peter Barrett.

Performance Dates: Oct. 22 – 28, 2022

 Joel Ivany directs “Orphée” with Siman Chung, Sharleen Joynt, and Etta Fung starring. Sandra Host conducts.

Performance Dates: Jan. 28 – Feb. 3, 2023 

Jennifer Tarver will direct the company premiere of Pergolesi’s “Stabat Mater” with Magid El-Bushra and Mireille Asselin starring.

Performance Dates: March 30 – April 1, 2023 

Prior to the opening night production, the company will present Opera al Fresco, an outdoor concert.

Performance Dates: August 26, 2022

The company will also present the Rumbold Vocal Prize with soprano Adrianne Pieczonka holding a masterclass for the occasion.

Performance Dates: Oct. 29, 2022

The company will also showcase a “Home for the Holidays” concert with soprano Jamie Groote, the Edmonton Opera Chorus, and the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra.

Performance Dates: Dec. 12, 2022

There will be also a cabaret experience with Andrew MacDonald-Smith.

Performance Dates: June 8 – 11, 2023
