Karen Slack Among Headliners of Portland Opera’s 2025-26 Season

Portland Opera has unveiled its 2025-26 season.

First up is “African Queens” starring Karen Slack in her famed program. She performs works by Damien Geter, Jasmine Barnes, and Shawn Okpebholo.

Performance Dates: Sept. 13-14, 2025

Next up is “The Elixir of Love.” The opera is presented in a 50-minute English language production as part of the “Portland Opera to Go” program. Kristine McIntyre is the stage director.

Performance Dates: Sept. 19-20, 2025

The comes “La Bohème.” Nicholas Fox conducts and Michael Yeargan is the set designer.

Performance Dates: Nov. 15-23, 2025

Ending 2025 is Joby Talbot and Gene Scheer’s “Everest.” Brian Staubenfiel directs.

Performance Dates: Dec. 12-21, 2025

Kicking off 2026 is “The Majesty of the Spiritual,” curated and performed by Robert Sims.

Performance Dates: Feb. 14 & 15, 2026

Gregory Pierce’s “Fellow Travelers” gets a production designed by Vita Tzykun and conducted by Kevin Newbury.

Performance Dates: March 7 – 15, 2026

In April, the company presents “Stone Soup” and “Frida Kahlo and the Bravest Girl in the World” by Joe Illick and Mark Campbell.

Performance Dates: April 17-26, 2026

The season ends with Verdi’s “Requiem.” Damien Geter conducts.

Performance Dates: May 16, 2026
