Opera Santa Barbara has announced that Karen Knight and Gregory McMurray have been elected to their Board of Directors as of October 2021.

Currently the Co-Chair of Wood Glen Hall’s Marketing Committee, Knight is a longtime resident of the city and helped start City Commerce Bank in 1978, where she served nine years as their Vice President of Business Development.

A member of the California State Bar, McMurray earned his Juris Doctor Degree at William and Mary School of Law in Virginia. He has served as a Deputy Public Defender in Kern County and Ventura County, and as a Judge Pro-Tem in Santa Barbara.

“Our Board of Directors bring a wealth of expertise and dedication to supporting our performing arts community,” said Board Chair Joan Rutkowski. “Karen and Greg are both very familiar with the company and we’re excited to channel their talents and energy into furthering Opera SB’s mission during this pivotal period in our history.”
