Julie Fuchs, Elza van den Heever, Lisette Oropesa, Elsa Dreisig, Benjamin Bernheim Headline FRA Cinéma’s 2022-23 Season

FRA Cinéma, the exclusive cinema distributor for the Paris Opera, has announced its 2022-23 slate, which will feature four operas and two ballets.

The 11th season of the collaboration will kick off with “I Capuleti e I Montecchi” from the Opéra Bastille. The opera, which is conducted by Speranza Scappucci will be directed by Robert Carsen. The opera stars Julie Fuchs, Anna Goryachova, Jean Teitgen, Francesco Demuro, and Krzysztof Bacyk.

Screening Date: Sept. 29, 2022 

Next up is a screening of “Salome” from the Opéra Bastille. The Strauss opera will be conducted by Simone Young and directed by Lydia Steier. Audiences will see Elza van den Heever in the title role alongside Zoran Todorovich, Karita Mattila, Tansel Akzeybek, and Iain Paterson.

Screening Date: Oct. 27, 2022

The company will then screen “La Vie Parisienne” from the Théâtre des Champs-Elysées” in a production by Christian Lacroix. Romain Dumas conducts a cast starring Jodie Devos, Rodolphe Briand, Marc Mauillon, Franck Leguérinel, Sandrine Buendia, Aude Extrémo, and Éric Huchet.

Screening Date: Dec. 8, 2022

Next up is “Tosca” from the Dutch National Opera. Lorenzo Viotti conducts Barrie Kosky’s production which stars Malin Byström, Joshua Guerrero, Federico De Michelis, and Gevorg Hakobyan.

Screening Date: Jan. 26, 2023

Thomas’ “Hamlet” will be presented in a production by Krzysztof Warlikowski. Thomas Hengelbrock conducts a cast starring Ludovic Tézier, Jean Teitgen, Lisette Oropesa, and Ève-Maud Hubeaux.

Screening Date: March 30, 2023

Closing out the season will be Gounod’s “Roméo et Juliette” with Carlo Rizzi in the pit. Thomas Jolly directs a cast starring Elsa Dreisig, Lea Desandre, Benjamin Bernheim, and Sylvie Brunet, among others.
