Julia Bullock & Marc Laho Lead Opéra De Lille’s 2019-20 Season

The Opéra de Lille has announced its 2019-20 season featuring a number of rare works and one of the great masterpieces of the canon.

Purcell’s “The Indian Queen” opens the season with Anna Dennis, Tristan Hambleton, Hugo Hymas, Gareth John, Rowan Pierce, Nick Pritchard, Christopher Ettridge, Elisabeth Hopper, James McGregor, Julie Legrand, Ben Porter, and Jules Werner. Emmanuelle Haïm conducts Guy Cassiers’ production.

Performance Dates: Oct. 5-12, 2019

Elise Chauvin, Camille Merckx, and flutist Claire Luquiens star in George Benjamin’s “Into the Little Hill.”  Alphonse Cemin conducts the production by Jacques Osinski.

Performance Date: Nov. 6, 2019

Julia Bullock performs “Zauberland,” a piece comprised of Schumann’s “Dichterliebe” and music by Bernard Foccroulle. She is joined by Cédric Tiberghien in a production by Katie Mitchell.

Performance Dates: Dec 6 & 7, 2019

Gabrielle Philiponet, Marc Laho, André Heyboer, and Rafal Pawnuk star in Bizet’s “The Pearl Fishers.” Guillaume Tourniaire conducts the production by FC Bergman.

Performance Dates: Jan. 23-Feb 4, 2020

William Kentridge and François Sarhan’s “Telegrams from the Nose” is set to star Michael Schmid and an ensemble of instrumentalists.

Performance Dates: Feb. 7, 2020

Mozart and Lavander’s “Les Noces, Variations” will star Guillaume Andrieux, Charlotte Despaux, Clara Guillon, and Aliénor Feix.  Quentin Hindley and Lucie Leguay alternate at the pit with Maëlle Dequiedt directing.

Performance Dates: March 7-15, 2020

Duron’s “Coronis” is set to star Ana Quintans, Isabelle Druet, Emiliano Gonzalez-Toro, Anthéa Pichanick, Victoire Bunel, Marielou Jacquard, and Caroline Meng with Vincent Dumestre conducting a production by Omar Porras.

Performance Dates: March 22-25, 2020

Tassis Christoyannis, Gabrielle Philiponet, Julie Robard-Gendre, Silvia Beltrami, Giulia Semenzato, Gezim Myshketa, and Xabier Anduaga star in Verdi’s “Falstaff” with Antonello Allemandi conducting a production by Denis Podalydès. There will also be a performance of the opera ‘”live en region.”

Performance Dates: May 12-June 2, 2020
