The first new production of the season will be Mozart’s “Die Zauberflöte“ with Michael Hampe directing. Christoph Gedschold, Alfred Eschwé, and Rainer Mühlbach alternate at the pit with Julien Behr as Tamino, Antonina Vesenina, and Emily Hindrichs as the Queen of the Night, Kathrin Zukowski and Aoife Miskelly sharing the role of Pamina, and Matthias Hoffmann and Miljenko Turk alternating as Papageno.

Benjamin Lazar directs George Benjamin’s “Written on Skin” with François-Xavier Roth conducting. The production stars Robin Adams, Jenny Daviet, Cameron Shahbazi, Judith Thielsen, and Dino Lüthy.

Burkhard Fritz, Aušrinė Stundytė, Kristiane Kaiser, Wolfgang Stefan Schwaiger, Miljenko Turk, Dalia Schaechter, and Regina Richter star in Korngold’s “Die Todt Stadt” with Tatjana Gürbaca directing the new production. Gabriel Feltz conducts.

George Petrou conducts a new production of Rossini’s “Il Barbiere di Siviglia“ with Ruth Berghaus directing. The cast will include Jack Swanson and Alasdair Kent as Count Almaviva, Renato Girolami as Bartolo, Tara Erraught, and Adriana Bastidas-Gamboa as Rosina, Bjarni Thor Kristinsson as Basilio, and Wolfgang Stefan Schwaiger as Figaro.

Johannes Erath directs Gounod’s “Faust“ with a cast that includes Anne-Catherine Gillet and Emily Hindrichs sharing the role of Marguerite, Regina Richter, and Samuel Youn. François-Xavier Roth and Arne Willimczik share the podium.

Hindemith’s “Cardillac” will be directed by Mariusz Trelinski with Tim Murray conducting. Bo Skovhus sings the title role alongside, Ivana Rusko, Martin Koch, Lucas Singer, Young Woo Kim, Judith Thielsen, and Matthias Hoffmann.

Christian von Götz directs “Mazeltov Rachel’e” featuring music by Goldfaden, Smulewitz, Doctor, Fall, Halévy, Krasznay-Krausz, Olshanetsky, Trilling, Meyerowitz, Offenbach, and Hahn. Dalia Schaechter, John Heuzenroeder, Matthias Hoffmann, and Stefan Hadžic´ star.

Adriana Bastidas-Gamboa, Young Woo Kim, David Butt Philip, Martin Muehle, Claudia Rohrbach, Ivana Rusko, Insik Choi, and Samuel Youn star in a revival of Bizet’s “Carmen“ with Christoph Gedschold, Gabriel Feltz, and Arne Willimczik conducting.
Performance Dates: March 10-April 5, 2021
Roman Burdenko sings the title role in Verdi’s “Rigoletto“ with Gloria Rehm and Nina Minasyan Gilda, Ante Jerkunica, and Lucas Singer as Sparafucile and Alyona Abramova as Maddalena. Duncan Ward and Gabriel Feltz conduct the revival.
Performance Dates: March 21-April 11, 2021
The season will also include gala evenings, opera for children, and lieder concerts.
