Juilliard Opera Unveils 2023-24 Season

Juilliard Opera has announced its 2023-24 season, including two operas that will be presented with the company for the first time ever.

First up is John Musto and Mark Campbell’s “Later the Same Evening,” a work inspired by Edward Hopper and New York in the 1950s. The opera will be directed by Alison Moritz and conducted by Joseph Colaneri.

Performance Dates: Nov. 12 – 17, 2023

Francesco Cavalli’s “Erismena” comes next in a production staged by Lisenka Heijboer Castañón. Avi Stein conducts Juilliard415. The work will be presented in an English translation, the first such instance in New York history.

Performance Dates: Feb. 21 – 25, 2024 

The season closes with “La Clemenza di Tito,” which was last performed at Juilliard in 1971. Stephen Wadsworth directs the Mozart work while Nimrod David Pfeffer conducts. 

Performance Dates: April 24 – 26, 2024
