Juan Diego Flórez’s “Werther” has been announced for DVD.

The new DVD, which was recorded live in April 2017 from the Opernhaus Zurich, will be released by Accentus Music. The performance also stars Anna Stephany as Charlotte and Melissa Petit as Sophie. Cornelius Meister conducts Tatiana Gurbaca’s new production.

When the production opened, it was hailed, particularly for Flórez, who critics noted “sang with ease and grace among the challenges that the score’s wide vocal intervals and impassioned lyrics presented him.”

Flórez is currently performing “Les Contes d’Hoffmann” at the Opera de Monte Carlo alongside Olga Peretyatko and is slated to return to the Bayerische Staatsoper for revivals of “Lucia di Lammermoor” and “Lucrezia Borgia.” He will also return to the Teatro alla Scala for Gluck’s Orphée et Eurydice and goes on tour throughout the month of April. He will also return to the Pesaro Festival as well as the Vienna State Opera.
