The year kicks off with star-studded new releases including a new Verdi recording and an Offenbach opera that features some of today’s greatest performers.
Luigi Gordigiani: Romantic Florence – Songs For Voice And Piano
Dynamic releases mezzo-soprano Marina Comparato’s latest album. She is joined by her long-standing artistic partner Gianni Fabbrini. Recorded in November 2024 at the Teatro del Maggio in Florence, the album is a world premiere recording of the chamber-vocal works of Luigi Gordigiani and brings back to light a composer whom nineteenth-century critics affectionately described as “the Italian Schubert.”
Richard Strauss: Intermezzo
Naxos releases the Deutsche Oper Berlin’s production of “Intermezo” in a production by Tobias Kratzer. The cast includes Maria Bengtsson, Thomas Blondelle, and Philipp Jekal. Sir Donald Runnicles conducts.
Jacques Offenbach: The Tales of Hoffmann
Opus Arte releases Offenbach’s opera from the Royal Opera House. The production by Damiano Michieletto is conducted by Antonello Manacorda. Juan Diego Flórez leads the cast that also includes Alex Esposito, Olga Pudova, Ermonelo Jaho, Marina Costa-Jackson, Julie Boulianne, Christine Rice, and Christophe Mortagne.
Alessandro Scarlatti: Il trionfo dell’onore
Dynamic releases the world premiere recording Scarlatti’s only comic opera from the Teatro La Fenice. The opera is conducted by Enrico Onofri, and directed by Stefano Vizioli. The cast includes Giulia Bolcato, Rosa Bove, Raffaele Pe, Francesca Lombardi Mazzulli, Dave Monaco, Luca Cervoni, Giuseppina Bridelli, and Tommaso Barea.

Prima Classic releases a new recording of Verdi’s late masterpiece. The new recording is led by an all star cast including Ludovic Tézier, Marina Rebeka, Francesco Meli, Michele Pertusi, and Mattia Olivieri. Michele Spotti conducts the Teatro San Carlo orchestra.
