Juan Diego Flórez, Joyce DiDonato, Francesco Meli & Corinne Winters Lead Arte.TV’s 2021-22 Season

Arte.TV has announced its 2021-22 season featuring a variety of productions from around the world. Here is a look.

The season from the Opéra Comique de Paris with a production of Beethoven’s “Fidelio.” Raphaël Pichon conducts the new production by Cyril Teste which stars Siobhan Stagg, Michael Spyres, Mari Eriksmoen, and Albert Dohmen.

Catalani’s “Edmea” will be shown from Wexford Festival Opera with Francesco Cilluffo conducting the new production by Julia Burbach. The cast includes Anne Sophie Duprels, Ivan Shcherbatykh, Luciano Ganci, John Molloy, and Leon Kim.

Broadcast Date: Oct. 22, 2021

The Czech National Theatre in Prague will present Smetana’s “Dalibor.” Jaroslav Kyzlink leads a cast that includes Adam Plachetka, Michal Lehotský, Jiří Brückler, and Dana Burešová.

Christian Thielemann conducts Strauss’ “Capriccio” from the Semperoper Dresden. The production by Jens-Daniel Herzog by stars Camilla Nylund, Christoph Pohl, Georg Zeppenfeld, Daniel Behle, and Christa Mayer.

Broadcast Date: Nov. 12, 2021

The Wiener Staatsoper will present a new production of Rossini’s “Il Barbiere di Sivilgia” by Herbert Fritsch. Michele Mariotti leads an all star cast that includes Juan Diego Flórez, Vasilisa Berzhanskaya, Etienne Dupuis, Paolo Bordogna, and Ildar Abdrazakov.

Benatzky’s “L’Auberge du cheval blanc Im weißen Rößl” will be presented from the Opéra de Lausanne. Jean-Yves Ossonce conducts the production by Gilles Rico which will star Fabienne Conrad, Mathias Vidal, Patrick Rocca, Clémentine Bourgoin, and Julien Dran.

Omer Meir Wellber conducts Verdi’s “Les Vêpres siciliennes” in Emma Dante’s production from the Teatro Massimo di Palermo. Erwin Schrott, Selene Zanetti, Celso Albelo, and George Petean star.

The Royal Opera House presents Handel’s “Theodora” with Harry Bicket conducting the new production by Katie Mitchell. The production stars Julia Bullock, Joyce DiDonato, Jakub Józef Orlinski, Ed Lyon, and Gyula Orendt.

Broadcast Date: Feb. 12, 2022

Christian Thielemann conducts a new production of Verdi’s “Aida” from the Semperoper Dresden by Katharina Thalbach. The production stars Alexandros Stavrakakis, Oksana Volkova, Krassimira Stoyanova, Francesco Meli, and Georg Zeppenfeld.

Broadcast Date: March 13, 2022

Puccini’s “Il Trittico” will be broadcast from the Théâtre Royal de la Monnaie in Brussels in a production by  Tobias Kratzer. Alain Altinoglu conducts a cast that includes Péter Kálmán, Corinne Winters, Adam Smith, Raehann Bryce-Davis, and Elena Zilio.

Hannu Lintu conducts Christof Loy’s production of Strauss’ “Salome” with Nikolai Schukoff, Karin Lovelius, Sara Jakubiak, Mihails Čulpajevs, and Andrew Foster-Williams. The production will be broadcast from the Finnish National Opera.

Broadcast Date: March 30, 2022

Matteo Beltrami conducts Donizetti’s “Don Pasquale” in a production by David Bösch. Ambrogio Maestri stars in the title role with Kartal Karagedik, Levy Sekgapane, Rosa Feola, and Jóhann Kristinsson. The production is being broadcast from the Staatsoper Hamburg.
