Juan Diego Flórez & Carlos Álvarez Headline Teatro Cervantes’ 150th Anniversary

The Teatro Cervantes de Málaga has announced its 150th anniversary season with part of its 2020-21 season.

The theater previously announced its 2019-20 season which you can find here. The two new operatic performances are as follows.

Carlos Álvarez sings the title role in Verdi’s “Simon Boccanegra” in a production by Curro Carreres. The opera also stars Rocío Ignacio, Rodrigo Esteve and Andeka Gorrotxategi with Lucas Macías Navarro conducting.

Álvarez is well-known for his interpretation of Boccanegra, having performed it  at the Royal Opera House and Wiener Staatsoper; he is also set to showcase his interpretation of the Verdi role at the Metropolitan Opera this season.

Performances Dates: Oct. 14, 16 & 18, 2020 

Juan Diego Flórez performs a recital alongside the Orquesta Filarmónica de Málaga with Nickolas Nägele conducting.

Flórez is currently on tour in Asia.

Performance Date: Nov. 20, 2020
