Juan Diego Flórez, Ailyn Pérez & Juan Francisco Gatell Headline LXXXIV Festival del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino

Here is a look at all the operatic and vocal performances.
Gluck’s “Orphée et Euridice” is set to star Juan Francisco Gatell, Sara Blanch, and Anna Prohaska. Daniele Gatti conducts Pierre Audi’s production which will present the French version.
Performance Dates: April 12-23, 2022
Daniele Gatti conducts the Coro and Orchestra del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino with Lorenzo Fratini directing Monteverdi’s “Lamento d’Arianna.” The program also includes Stravinsky’s Persephone.” Juan Francisco Gatell will also perform.
Performance Date: April 26, 2022
Henrik Nánási conducts Gounod’s “Romeo et Juliette” with Frederic Wake-Walker directing. Juan Diego Flórez and Valentina Naforniță star in the title roles with Evgeny Stavinsky, Alessio Arduini, Ruzil Gatin, Vasilisa Berzhanskaya, Francesco Milanese, Marina De Liso, and André Courville rounding out the cast.

Vladimir Spivakov conducts the Orchestra Filarmonica Nazionale di Russia with soprano Ekaterina Lekhina and cellist Dali Gutserieva performing as soloists. The program includes music by Rimskij-Korsakov, Prokofiev, Boyarsky, and Tchaikovsky.

Zubin Mehta conducts Mozart’s “Le Nozze di Figaro” in a revival of Jonathan Miller’s production. The cast includes Alessandro Luongo, Kirsten MacKinnon, Luca Micheletti, Benedetta Torre, Serena Malfi, Fabio Capitanucci, and Paolo Antognetti.

Plácido Domingo, Jonathan Tetelman, Ailyn Pérez, and Riccardo Fassi star in Verdi’s “I Due Foscari” with Carlo Rizzi conducting a production by Grischa Asagaroff.

Audiences will see “Ayda, Amore Fatale” from Verdi’s “Aida” with Giuseppe La Malfa conducting and Manu Lalli directing.

Daniele Gatti conducts Matthias Hartmann’s production of Strauss’ “Ariadne auf Naxos” with Krassimira Stoyanova, AJ Glueckert, Jessica Pratt, Liviu Holender, Michelle Losier, and Markus Werba starring.

AJ Glueckert, Judit Kutasi, Alex Esposito, Luca Bernard, and Massimo Popolizio star in Stravinsky’s “Oedipus Rex” with Daniele Gatti conducting.
