Joyce DiDonato’s In War & Peace Tour Comes To An End

By Francisco Salazar

Joyce DiDonato is set to culminate her successful tour “In War and Peace” this November.

The tour, which began on Nov. 17, 2016, at the BOZAR in Brussels has lasted nearly three years and has traveled across four continents to 44 cities within 25 countries. The tour will end in capital of her own country, Washington, D.C.

The tour was inspired by her album “In War and Peace: Harmony through Music” which was released in November 2016 on Erato, which was also inspired by the tragic events of November 2015 in Paris. With the music in the program DiDonato stated, “As I have tried to convey in this selection of music the power to bravely tip the scales towards peace lies firmly within every single one of us.”

Throughout the tour, Il Pomo d’Oro under the baton of Maxim Emelyanychev has accompanied DiDonato and the tour has won critical acclaim including Gramophone’s “Recital of the Year.”

The tour will come to a close in a special event streamed live on Facebook and YouTube which will be held on Nov. 10 at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, D.C., featuring Joyce DiDonato with Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg and author Donna Leon, to commemorate and reflect on this incredible occasion. Performances will be held on Nov. 7 and 8, 2019.
