Joyce DiDonato, Max Emanuel Cencic & Franco Fagioli Lead Bayreuth Baroque 2020

Bayreuth Baroque has announced its 2020 program, which will focus mainly on the works from the period of the late Baroque that have never or hardly been performed.

For the purpose of this article we will focus only on vocal works.

The new production of Drama Per Musica “Carlo il Calvo” by Nicola Antonio Porpora will feature Julia Lezhneva, Max Emanuel Cencic, Franco Fagioli, Suzanne Jerosme, Bruno de Sa,  and Nian Wang. George Petrou will conduct the production by Max Emanuel Cencic.

Performance Dates: September 3, 5 & 8, 2020

Concert Performance of “Gismondo, Re di Polonia” by Leonardo Vinci will star Max Emanuel Cencic, Yuriy Mynenko, Sophie Junker, Aleksandra Kubas-Kruk, Dilyara Idrisova, Jake Arditti, and Nicholas Tamagna. Martyna Pastuszka will conduct.

Performance Dates: September 11 & 13, 2020

Special Events

Alto Delphine Galou will give a concert showcasing works from Jommelli, Porpora and Vivaldi. Ottavio Dantone will conduct The Accademia Bizantina.

Performance Date: September 4, 2020

Joyce DiDonato will have a special gala concert featuring works from Monteverdi, Händel, Gluck, Hasse, Cesti and Dowland. Maxim Emelyanychev will conduct Il pomo d’oro orchestra.

Performance Date: September 6, 2020

Mezzo-soprano Romina Basso will perform in the concert featuring works by Carissimi, Rossi, Strozzi and Provenzale. Markellos Chryssicos will conduct.

Performance Date: September 9, 2020

Mezzo-soprano Vivica Genaux will sing the works of Johann Adolph Hasse. Wolfgang Katschner will conduct the Lautten Compagney Orchestra.

Performance Date: September 12, 2020
