Joyce DiDonato, Juan Diego Flórez, Xavier Sabata & Franco Fagioli Lead Palau de la Musica Orfeo Catala’s 2022-23 Season

The Palau de la Musica Orfeo Catala has announced its 2022-23 season featuring many operatic performances and vocal highlights.

Here is a look.

Marta Mathéu and Alex Potter join the Vespres d’Arnadí and Dani Espasa for works by Händel, Porpora, Geminiani, Steffani, and Bononcini.

Performance Date: Oct. 5, 2022

Only the sound remains” by Kaija Saariaho will feature Michał Sławecki, Bryan Murray, Kaiji Moriyama, and the vocal quartet of Cor de Cambra del Palau de la Música Catalana. The opera will also include the Quartet Ardeo, conductor Ernest Martínez Izquierdo, and stage director Aleksis Barrière.

André Schuen joins the Ensemble of the Orchestra of the Valencian Community and conductor Anna Sułkowska-Migoń for Mahler’s “Des Knaben Wunderhorn.

Performance Date: Oct. 17, 2022

Christiane Karg, Sarah Gilford, Lucile Richardot, Franco Fagioli, Nicholas Phan, Alex Rosen, star in Handel’s “Ariodante” with Il Pomo d’Oro and George Petrou.

The Cor Amics de l’Òpera de Sabadell and Orquestra Simfònica del Vallès perform Mozart’s “Don Giovanni” under Daniel Gil de Tejada.
Performance Date: Nov. 5, 2022
Salvador Vidal, Coral Cantiga, Orquestra Simfònica del Vallès, and Rubén Gimeno pay tribute to Ennio Morricone.

Performance Date: Nov. 19, 2022

Sara Bañeras and Orquestra Simfònica del Vallès perform Waltzes and Valses from the Strauss family. Xavier Puig conducts.

The Orchestre des Champs Élysées and Philippe Herreweghe lead Beethoven’s “Missa Solemnis” with soloists Eleonore Lyons, Eva Zaïzick, Ilker Arcayürek, and Thomas Bauer.

Puccini’s “Madama Butterfly” will be performed by the Cor Amics de l’Òpera de Sabadell, Orquestra Simfònica del Vallès, and Sergi Roca.

Joan Seguí, Andrew Ackerman, Cor de Cambra del Palau de la Música Catalana, and Christoph Siebert perform music by Schutz, J. Ch. Bach, and Mendelssohn.

Performance Date: Feb. 26, 2023

Montverdi’s “Il ritorno d’Ulisse” will star Mark Padmore, Sara Mingardo, and Giuseppina Bridelli. The Cor de cambra del Palau de la Música Catalana and Europa Galante will be led by Fabio Biondi.

Christoph Prégardien and Roger Vignoles perform Schubert’s “Die schöne Müllerin.”

The Vox Luminis, Freiburger Barockorchester, and Lionel Meunier join forces for Bach’s “St. Matthew’s Passion.”

The Collegium Vocale Gent will be conducted by Philippe Herreweghe in Bach’s “Johannes Passion.

The Monteverdi Choir, English Baroque Soloists, and John Eliot Gardiner perform Bach’s Mass in B minor, BWV 232.

Joyce DiDonato, Il Pomo d’Oro, and Maxim Emelyanychev bring “Eden” to the Palau with works by Ives, Portman, Cavalli, Händel, Gluck, Mahler, Wagner, Valentini, Marini, and Myslivecek.
