Josep Pons Named Artistic & Music Director of Deutsche Radio Philharmonie

Josep Pons has been named Artistic and Music Director of the Deutsche Radio Philharmonie.

He will begin his tenure with the orchestra during the 2025-26 season and will take over for Pietari Inkinen.

Pons is currently the Music Director of the Gran Teatre de Liceu where he has held his position since 2012 and will lead the company until 2026. He is considered one of Spain’s greatest conductors and has collaborated regularly with the Deutsche Radio Philharmonie since 2006.

He is also a regular guest conductor with the Leipzig Gewandhaus Orchestra, Staatskapelle Dresden, WDR, Rundfunk-Sinfonieorchester Berlin, Konzerthaus Orchester, Orchestre de París, NHK Symphony orchestra, Hong Kong Philharmonic, and BBC. Pons is the honorary conductor of the Orquesta Nacional de España and the Orquesta Ciudad de Granada.
