The Hungarian State Opera has announced its 2024-25 season.

Premieres

Gergely Vajda conducts John Adams’ “Nixon in China” with Rita Rácz, Klára Kolonits, Zoltán Nyári, and Károly Szemerédy. András Almási-Tóth directs the production.

Performance Dates: Sept. 22-Oct. 5, 2024

Péter Dobszay will conduct Verdi’s Requiem and will feature soloists Andrea Brassói-Jőrös, Andrea Szántó, István Kovácsházi, and Krisztián Cser. András Almási-Tóth directs.

Performance Dates: Nov. 2-15, 2024

Dóra Barta directs Puccini’s “Turandot” with Eszter Sümegi, Szilvia Rálik, Péter Fried, Boldizsár László, Yusif Eyvazov, Polina Pasztircsák, and Kinga Kriszta in the cast.

Florin Estefan, Michele Kalmandy, Krisztián Cser, Csilla Boross, Szilvia Rálik, Szabolcs Brickner, and Barna Bartos star in Verdi’s “Macbeth.” Martin Rajna conducts the production by Matthew Wild.

Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s “Bastien und Bastienne” and Gian Carlo Menotti’s “The Telephone” will be performed in a double bill.

Philip Venables’s “Denis & Katya” and George Benjamin’s “Into the Little Hill” will be performed in a double bill.  Venables opera will star Lóránt Najbauer and Zsófia Kálnay while Benjamin’s will star Rita Rácz and Mária Farkasréti. Ádám Cser conducts. János Szemenyei and Ádám Tulassay direct.
