Jonathan Nott Extends Contract with Orchestre de la Suisse Romande

Jonathan Nott has extended his contract as artistic and music director of the Orchestre de la Suisse Romande until 2026.

Nott began his relationship with the orchestra in 2014 when he was invited to conduct the musicians in a performance of Mahler’s Seventh Symphony. He was appointed as Music and Artistic Director of the Orchestre de la Suisse Romande in January 2017.

Since being Music Director he recorded with the Orchestre de la Suisse Romande such works by Richard Strauss, Claude Debussy, and Gyorgy Ligeti on Pentatone. He also recorded works by Arnold Schoenberg and Claude Debussy’s “Pelléas et Mélisande.”

Prior to his with the Suisse Romande, he was the principal conductor of the Bamberg Symphony Orchestra from 2000 until 2016. He is also the Music Director of the Tokyo Symphony Orchestra since 2014 and has also worked with the Berlin Philharmonic and the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra.
