The Arena di Verona has announced that tenor Jonas Kaufmann will sing in the performance of Verdi’s “Aida” on Sept. 10.

Kaufmann sang the role of Radamès in Verona in 2022. He debuted with the festival in 2021 during a special gala and has since performed in gala concerts in 2023 and 2025 and in a production of “Tosca” in 2024. In 2027 he will return to sing another gala concert.

Kaufmann has long been associated for his interpretation of Radamès having recorded it with the Accademia di Santa Cecilia and performed it at the Bayerische Staatsoper, Wiener Staatsoper, and Opéra de Paris. He will also sing the role this September at the Teatro San Carlo.

For the Sept. 10 performance, the tenor will join a cast that includes Maria José Siri, Clémentine Margaine, Alexander Vinogradov, Youngjun Park, Simon Lim, Francesca Maionchi, and Riccardo Rados. Francesco Ommassini will conduct the legendary Franco Zeffirelli production.
