Famed tenor Jonas Kaufmann will give a recital at Teatro Real de Madrid on Jan. 14, 2021.

For this occasion, Kaufmann will be accompanied by his long-term collaborator, pianist Helmut Deutsch. The program for the concert includes music by Schubert, Schumann, Strauss, Beethoven, Mozart, Mendelssohn, Brahms, Chopin, Tchaikovsky, Mahler, and Dvořák, among others.

The news comes days after the announcement that Kaufmann’s recent recital at the Théâtre Royal de Wallonie-Liège was canceled due to ongoing concerns over COVID-19.

Kaufmann recently performed the title role in Verdi’s “Don Carlos” at the Wiener Staatsoper, and the role of Florestan in Beethoven’s “Fidelio” at the Royal Opera House Covent Garden.

The tenor is scheduled to return to the stage in the role of Radamès for performances of Verdi’s “Aida” at the Opéra National de Paris in February 2021, before taking on the title role in Wagner’s “Parsifal” at the Wiener Staatsoper in April 2021.
