Jonas Kaufmann Reveals New La Scala Project For 2020

By David Salazar

Jonas Kaufmann has revealed that he will perform in “Fedora” in 2020 at La Scala.

The tenor unveiled the information in an interview with Corriere della Sera.

“In 2020, I will return for a beautiful project, a rarely performed Italian opera, Giordano’s ‘Fedora,’” he noted.

In the interview, Kaufmann added that he does not have many projects in Italy, though there is a concert at Reggia di Castera in August with Maria Agresta and a recital at La Scala on September 28, 2018.

He also reaffirmed that he is also curtailing his work in the US, mainly to stay closer to his two teenage children.

“Two weeks are fine, but not two months,” he stated. “And Trump’s America doesn’t appeal to me. The world can’t avoid it. But I can.”

Operaclick substantiated the news that “Fedora” would be returning in 2020 (though there is no mention of Kaufmann) and also noted that La Scala would be bringing “L’Amore dei tre re” by Montemezzi in 2020.
