Jonas Kaufmann, Regula Mühlemann, Marina Rebeka, Rolando Villazón, Cecilia Bartoli Headline Opéra de Monte-Carlo’s 2023-24 Season

Opéra de Monte-Carlo has announced its 2023-24 season.

Opera

First up is Verdi’s “Requiem” under the baton of Daniel Barenboim. Marina Rebeka, Ekaterina Semenchuk, Michael Spyres, and Ildar Abdrazakov are the soloists.

Performance Date: Nov. 2, 2023

Jonas Kaufmann headlines “Caruso a Monaco.” The tribute to the great tenor will also feature actor Alfonso Antoniozzi and conductor Antonio Pappano. Davide Livermore directs.

Performance Date: Nov. 19, 2023

Vittorio Grigolo, Ildar Abdrazakov, Artur Rucinski, Joyce El-Khoury, Varduhi Abrahamyan, and Alexey Tikhomirov lead “Don Carlo.” Davide Livermore directs and Massimo Zanetti conducts.

Performance Date: Nov. 22 – 26, 2023

The Académies Lyriques will present “L’Enfant et les Sortilèges.”

Performance Date: Dec. 19 – 23, 2023

The company will also present “The Phantom of the Opera” starring Ramin Karimloo and Amelia Milo. Federico Bellone directs.

Gianluca Capuano conducts Davide Livermore’s production of “Giulio Cesare in Egitto.” The production stars Cecilia Bartoli as Cleopatra and Carlo Vistoli as Giulio Cesare. Other cast members include Kangmin Justin Kim, Péter Kálmán, Sara Mingardo, and Max Emanuel Cencic.

Performance Date: Jan. 24 – 30, 2024

Brahms’ Requiem will feature Regula Mühlemann and Simon Keenlyside. Gianluca Capuano conducts.

Performance Date: Jan. 29, 2024

“Cavalleria Rusticana” and “Gianni Schicchi” will be presented in a double bill. The former will star Mariá José Siri, Annunziata Vestri, Yusif Eyvazov, Péter Kalmán, and Elena Zilio. The Puccini opera stars Nicola Alaimo, Nina Minasyan, and Edgardo Rocha. Speranza Scappucci conducts a production by Grischa Asagaroff.

Performance Date: Feb. 23 – 29, 2024

Rolando Villazón performs a concert alongside Lena-Lisa Wüstendörfer. The showcase features works by Händel, Mozart, Haydn, Donizetti, Verdi, Offenbach, and Tosti, among others.

Cecilia Bartoli and Lang Lang perform music by Rossini, Bellini, and Donizetti, among others.

Performance Date: March 23, 2024

Regula Mühlemann and Javier Camarena star in “La Fille du Régiment.” Ion Marin conducts a production by Jean-Louis Grinda.

Performance Date: March 24 – 30, 2024

“The Master’s Voice” will star Cecilia Bartoli and famed actor John Malkovich. The production, which is conducted by Gianluca Capuano, features music by Händel, Porpora, and Vivaldi, among others.

Barocchissimo

The company has been invited back to the Vienna State Opera for a mini-festival. First up will be “Giulio Cesare in Egitto.” Gianluca Capuano conducts the same cast, starring Cecilia Bartoli, Carlo Vistoli, Kangmin Justin Kim, Péter Kálmán, Sara Mingardo, and Max Emanuel Cencic.

Performance Date: July 6 & 9, 2024

Next up is a reprisal of “The Master’s Voice” with Cecilia Bartoli and John Malkovich. Gianluca Capuano conducts.

Performance Date: July 8 & 10, 2024

The mini-festival ends with “Farinelli & Friends.” The gala, which will be conducted by Gianluca Capuano, stars Cecilia Bartoli, Julie Fuchs, Ann Hallenberg, Sara Mingardo, Regula Mühlemann, Anne Sofie von Otter, Núria Rial, Max Emanuel Cencic, Christophe Dumaux, Péter Kálmán, Kangmin Justin Kim, and Rolando Villazón, among others.

Les Musicens du Prince – Monaco on Tour

The production of “Giulio Cesare in Egitto” heads to Luxembourg, Paris, Brussels, Amsterdam, and Köln. Gianluca Capuano conducts the same cast, starring Cecilia Bartoli, Carlo Vistoli, Kangmin Justin Kim, Péter Kálmán, Sara Mingardo, and Max Emanuel Cencic.

Gianluca Capuano conducts Bach’s “Magnificat” at the Festival Bach in Lausanne.
