Jonas Kaufmann, Pretty Yende, Juan Diego Flórez & Lise Davidsen Headline Wiener Staatsoper’s Streaming Slate

The Wiener Staatsoper has announced a new week of streaming featuring recent live performances and several Verdi operas.

Michael Volle, Hans-Peter König, Ricarda Merbeth, and Herbert Lippert star in Wagner’s “Der Fliegende Hollander” from a 2015 performance. Peter Schneider conducts Christine Mielitz’s production.

Streaming Date: March 9, 2021

Peter Schneider conducts R. Strauss’ “Ariadne auf Naxos” from a 2017 performance. Sven-Eric Bechtolf’s production stars Lise Davidsen, Stephen Gould, Erin Morley, Rachel Frenkel, and Markus Eiche.

Streaming Date: March 10, 2021

Ambrogio Maestri headlines Verdi’s “Falstaff” from a 2016 stream. Ludovic Tézier, Paolo Fanale, and Hila Fahima also star in David McVicar’s production. Zubin Mehta conducts.

Streaming Date: March 11, 2021

Simon Stone’s production of Verdi’s “La Traviata” will receive an encore presentation. The 2021 stream conducted by Giacomo Sagripanti stars Pretty Yende, Juan Diego Flórez, Igor Golovatenko, and Margaret Plummer.

Streaming Date: March 12, 2021

Jonas Kaufmann headlines Verdi’s “Don Carlos” in French. Malin Byström, Eve-Maud Hubeaux, and Igor Golovatenko also star in Peter Konwitschny’s production. Bertrand de Billy conducts the 2020 stream.

Streaming Date: March 13, 2021

The company will stream a production of Verdi’s “Don Carlo” in Italian from 2015. Marco Armiliato conducts Daniele Abbado’s production which stars Stefano Secco, Dmitri Hvorostovsky, Maria Pia Piscitelli, and Béatrice Uria-Monzon.

Verdi’s “Aida” stars Elena Guseva, Gregory Kunde, Ekaterina Gubanova, and Simone Piazzola. Marco Armiliato conducts Nicolas Joel’s production.
