Three major releases are set for this week including two major box sets from one important artist and another of a major work.

The Jonas Kaufmann Collection

Arthaus is set to release a collection of three DVDs starring Jonas Kaufmann. The box set will include performances of “Fidelio,” “Nina,” and “Il Ritorno d’Ulisse” from Opernhaus Zurich. Artists in the box set also include Camilla Nylund, Vesselina Kasarova, and Cecilia Bartoli. Performances come from 2002 and 2004.

The Ring Cycle

The Seattle Opera is releasing a 14-CD box set of Wagner’s epic work. Artists include Stuart Skelton, Margaret Jane Wray, Andrea Silvestrelli, Greer Grimsley, Alwyn Mellor, Stefan Vinke, Richard Paul Fink, Jennifer Zetlan, Stephanie Blythe, Wendy Bryn Harmer, and Markus Brück. Asher Fisch conducts.

I Due Foscari

Guanqun Yu, Bernadett Fodor, Ivan Magrì, István Horváth, Leo Nucci, and Miklós Sebestyé star in Verdi’s early masterwork with conductor Ivan Repusic leading the Munchner Rundfunkorchester. BR Klassik releases the new CD.
