Jonas Kaufmann Kicks Off Metropolitan Opera’s ‘Live in Concert’ Series

Famed tenor Jonas Kaufmann is set to kick off the Metropolitan Opera’s “Met Stars Live in Concert” series on July 18, 2020.

The event, which will kick off at 1 p.m. ET, will feature the opera superstar live from the Polling Abbey located in the countryside outside Munich, Germany.

Kaufmann will perform a wide array of arias alongside pianist Helmut Deutsche from such operas as “Tosca,” “Carmen,” “Roméo et Juliette,” “L’Africaine,” “La Gioconda,” “Adriana Lecouvreur,” “Andrea Chénier,” “L’Arlesiana,” and “Turandot.” He will also perform “Ombra di Nube” by Licinio Refice.

Per the Met Opera’s official website, the performance will also include highlights from some of his greatest on-stage moments.

Kaufmann’s performance will be followed in this series by concerts featuring Renée Fleming, Roberto Alagna and Aleksandra Kurzak, and Lise Davidsen, among many others. Fleming will be performing from Washington D.C. on August 1 while Alagna and Kurzak will be live from Èze, France on August 16. Davidsen will appear from Oslo on August 29.
