The Bayerische Staatsoper has announced its 2024-25 season.

Premieres 

Tobias Krazter directs a new production of Wagner’s “Das Rheingold” with Nicholas Brownlee, Milan Siljanov, Sean Panikkar, Markus Brück, Matthias Klink, Matthew Rose, Timo Riihonen, Ekaterina Gubanova, Mirjam Mesak, and Wiebke Lehmkuhl. Vladimir Jurowski conducts.

Performance Dates: Oct. 27, 2024-July 31, 2025

Damiano Michieletto directs Donizetti’s “La Fille du Régiment” with Pretty Yende, Lisette Oropesa, Susan Graham, Xabier Anduaga, Lawrence Brownlee, and Misha Kiria. Stefano Montanari condcuts.

Performance Dates: Dec. 22, 2024-July 1, 2025

Strauss’ “Die Liebe der Danae” will star Christopher Maltman, Ya-Chung Huang, Vincent Wolfsteiner, Malin Byström, Erika Baikoff, and Andreas Schager. Sebastian Weigle conducts the new production by Claus Guth.

Performance Dates: Feb. 7, 2025-July 22, 2025

Janáček’s “Kát’a Kabanová” will showcase Corrine Winters in the title role alongside Mirga Gražinytė-Tyla conducting. The new production will be directed by
Krzysztof Warlikowski and will also star Milan Siljanov, Pavel Černoch, Violeta Urmana, and John Daszak.

Performance Dates: March 17-July 7, 2025

“Das Jagdgewehr” will star Juliana Zara, Eirin Rognerud, Dafydd Jones, and Vitor Bispo. Francesco Angelico conducts the production by Ulrike Schwab.

Performance Dates: May 2-11, 2025

“Matsukaze” will star Seonwoo Lee, Natalie Lewis, Paweł Horodyski, and Bruno Khouri. Alexandre Bloch conducts the production by Lotte van den Berg and Tobias Staab.

Daniele Rustioni and Andrea Battistoni lead “Cavalleria Rusticana” and “Pagliacci” in a new production by Francesco Micheli. The cast for Mascagni’s work will include Yulia Matochkina, Ekaterina Semenchuk, Vittorio Grigolo, Rosalind Plowright, Wolfgang Koch, Elmina Hasan, and Rihab Chaieb. Meanwhile, the cast for Leoncavallo’s work will star Ailyn Pérez, Jonas Kaufmann, Riccardo Massi, Wolfgang Koch, and Mattia Olivieri.

Performance Dates: May 22-July 12, 2025

Mozart’s “Don Giovanni” will be directed by David Hermann and will be conducted by Vladimir Jurowski. The cast will include Konstantin Krimmel, Christof Fischesser, Vera-Lotte Boecker, Giovanni Sala, Samantha Hankey, Kyle Ketelsen, Avery Amereau, and Michael Mofidian.

Performance Dates: June 27-July 8, 2025

Fauré’s “Pénélope” will star Brandon Jovanovich, Thomas Mole, Loïc Félix, Leigh Melrose, Joel Williams, Zachary Rioux, Dafydd Jones, Elene Gvritishvili, Victoria Karkacheva, Rinat Shaham, and Emily Sierra. Susanna Mälkki conducts the new Production by Andrea Breth.

Performance Dates: July 18-29, 2025

Revivals

Orff’s “Der Mond” will conducted by Ustina Dubitsky and will star Liam Bonthrone, Gabriel Rollinson, Vitor Bispo, Aleksey Kursanov, Paweł Horodyski, Thomas Mole, and Nikita Volkov.

Oksana Lyniv conducts Puccini’s “Tosca” with Lise Davidsen, Freddie De Tommaso, and Bryn Terfel.
