Richard Flury: Four Song-Cycles
Stephanie Buhmann and Margaret Singer perform Richard Flury’s song cycles in a new album for Toccata Classics.
The output of Richard Flury, one of Switzerland’s most prolific composers, ranges from operas and ballets to symphonies, instrumental concertos, sacred and secular vocal works, chamber music, and no fewer than 181 songs with piano accompaniment. The four song cycles on this release were written between 1920 and 1946.
Andrea Chenier
The Bayerische Staatsoper releases a 2017 performance of Giordano’s masterpiece starring Jonas Kaufmann, Anja Harteros, and George Petean. Marco Armiliato conducts the production by Philipp Stölzl.
Tan Dun: Buddha Passion
Decca Classics releases the world premiere recording of “Buddha Passion.” Tan Dun conducts the recording with the Orchestre National de Lyon and the Inertnationale Chorakademie.
Káťa Kabanová
Unitel Classica releases Salzburg’s production of Janáček’s opera with Corinne Winters, Evelyn Herlitzius, David Butt Philip, and Benjamin Hulett. Barrie Kosky directs the production, which was conducted by Jakub Hrůša in August 2022.
