Jonas Kaufmann Announces New Album ‘Magische Töne’

By Francisco Salazar

Jonas Kaufmann has announced his latest album “Magische Töne” for Sony Classical.

The new album is dedicated to composers from the era of the Austro-Hungarian Empire and include favorites from the operettas of Emmerich Kálmán, Franz Lehár, and Paul Abraham.

This album is a continuation of the tenor’s exploration of operettas that started with his recording “Wien” and this time with a focus on Hungarian composers, whose works were premiered in German.

Recorded in Budapest with Hungarian State Opera Orchestra and conducted by Dirk Kaftan, the album also features soprano Nikola Hillebrand in several duets.

This is the latest album on Sony Classical by the superstar tenor following, “Doppelgänger,” Puccini: Love Affairs,” “Parsifal,” and “The Sound of Movies.”

“Magische Töne” is set for release on April 10, 2026.
