Joshua Guerrero, Elsa Dreisig, Riccardo Massi, Ludovic Tézier & Nicole Car Lead Opéra de Lyon’s 2025-26 Season

The Opéra National de Lyon has announced its 2025-26 season.

Mussorgsky’s “Boris Godounov” will be conducted by Vitali Alekseenok and directed by Vasily Barkhatov. The production will star Dmitri Ulyanov alongside soloists from the Opera de Lyon studio.

Performance Dates: Oct. 13-25, 2025

Offenbach’s “Les Contes d’Hoffmann” will be directed by Damiano Michieletto and will star Joshua Guerrero, Amina Edris, Clémentine Margaine, and Marko Mimica. Emmanuel Villaume and Charlotte Corderoy conduct.

Performance Dates: Dec. 16, 2025-Jan. 5, 2026

Elsa Dreisig stars in Charpentier’s “Louise.” Giulio Cilona conducts the production by Christof Loy and will include artists from the Opera de Lyon studio.

Performance Dates: Jan. 29-Feb. 8, 2026

Chiara Isotton and Riccardo Massi star in Puccini’s “Manon Lescaut.” Sesto Quatrini conducts Emma Dante’s production.

Performance Dates: March 20-April 7, 2026

Britten’s “Billy Budd” will star Derek Welton and Finnegan Downie Dear will conduct. The production which will also star Opera de Lyon’s Studio artists will be directed by Richard Brunel.

Performance Dates: March 21-April 4, 2026

Benjamin Lazar, Florent Hubert, and Judith Chemla create “Traviata – Vous méritez un avenir meilleur” with musical arrangements and direction from Florent Hubert and Paul Escobar.

Performance Dates: March 22-29, 2026

Isabelle Aboulker’s “Les Enfants du Levant” will be directed by Pauline Laidet.

Performance Dates: May 27-30, , 2026

Claudio Monteverdi’s “L’Incoronazione di Poppea” will feature studio artists from teh Opera de Lyon ina new production by Tatjana Gürbaca. Simon-Pierre Bestion conducts.

Performance Dates: June 15-28, 2026

Claire-Mélanie Sinnhuber’s “Le Sang du glacier” will be directed by Angélique Clairand.

Performance Dates: Spring 2026

Concerts 

The opening concert wil feature Jader Bignamini conducting Richard Wagner’s “Siegfried Idyll” and Gustav Mahler’s Symphony No. 4. Elsa Benoit is the soloist.

Sabine Devieilhe performs in recital.

Patricia Petibon concludes the recital series.

Lyon Opéra Studio

The first concert will be a Schubert – Schumann evening.

The second condert wioll feature Mélodies françaises.

Performance Date: April 19, 2026

The final concert will be Italian arias.
