John Tessier, Andrew Haji & Tessa Fackelmann Lead Edmonton Opera’s 2026-27 Season

The Edmonton Opera has announced its 2026-27 season.

Mainstage

Anna Theodosakis directs a new production of Rossini’s “Il Barbiere di Sivigilia” with Gordon Gerrard conducting. The production will star John Tessier, Tessa Fackelmann, Korin Thomas-Smith, Joel Balzun, and Vartan Gabriellian.

Performance Dates: Nov. 5 & 7, 2026


The Rumbold Vocal Prize will take place.

Performance Date: Nov. 20, 2026


Joel Ivany will direct Mozart’s “The Magic Flute” with Henry Kennedy conducting. Andrew Haji, Sydney Baedke, Alain Coulombe, Jamal al Titi, and Spencer Lang star.

Performance Dates: Feb. 4 & 6, 2027


Beyond the Mainstage

Opera al Fresco will bring audiences together in the gardens for a summer evening shaped by music.

Performance Date: August 26, 2026


The Dianne Kipnes Valentine’s Gala will bring Edmonton Opera’s community for an evening that reflects both the company’s history and its future.

Performance Date: Feb. 11, 2027


Opera Pub at Blue Chair will be performed.

Performance Dates: March 18, April 15, and May 13, 2027
