BBC Proms has announced a cast change for its upcoming live performance.

Conductor Omer Meir Wellber has had to withdraw from the performance on September 2, 2020 due to illness. John Storgårds will take his place. Due to the cast change, the program has been adjusted accordingly.

Instead of the Aziza Sadikova’s “Marionettes” and Haydn’s Symphony No. 80 in D minor, the BBC Philharmonic  will perform Tchaikovsky “Hamlet” Op. 67a (incidental music), and the Serenade for Strings in C major, Op 48.

John Storgårds is the Chief Guest Conductor of the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra and Principal Guest Conductor of Canada’s National Arts Centre Orchestra Ottawa. Storgårds regularly performs with such orchestras as the WDR Sinfonieorchester Köln, Gewandhausorchester Leipzig, Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France, Orchestre National de France, Orchestra Sinfonica Nazionale della RAI, BBC Symphony Orchestra, and the London Philharmonic, among others.
