John Holiday, Aryeh Nussbaum Cohen, & Samuel Marino to Appear in 92Y’s ‘Countertenor-Palooza’

On January 23, 92Y School of Music will host “Countertenor-Palooza,” an online discussion featuring some of opera’s leading countertenors.

Host Naomi Lewin will be joined by countertenors John Holiday, Aryeh Nussbaum Cohen, and Samuel Marino. Making his debut with the Metropolitan Opera next fall in Matthew Aucoin’s “Eurydice,” Holiday recently received national acclaim as a finalist on this year’s season NBC’s “The Voice.” He has also won several prizes and awards including the 2017 Marian Anderson Vocal Award; the 2014 Richard Tucker Foundation’s Sara Tucker award; first place at the 2013 Gerda Lissner International Vocal Competition, the 2012 Sullivan Foundation, and the 2011 Dallas Opera Guild Vocal Competition; and third place winner in the 2014 OPERALIA competition.

Meanwhile, Nussbaum Cohen, who won a 2019 Grammy Award, is set to make his Australian debut next month at the Adelaide Festival in “A Midsummer Night’s Dream.” Nussbaum Cohen is also the winner of a 2019 William Matheus Sullivan Musical Foundation Award, and Third Prize Winner in the 2019 edition of Operalia. Finally, he was also First Prize Winner and Audience Choice Award recipient at the 2018 Dallas Opera Guild Vocal Competition.

Finally, Marino, who is based in Berlin, has appeared in opera houses throughout Europe, including the Halle Handel Festival, the Margravial Opera House, the Katowice Academy Baroque Orchestra, the Kammeroper Schloss Rheingberg, and the Stadttheater Giessen, among others.
