Jessye Norman To Deliver Keynote Address At New England Conservatory Commencement

Famed soprano Jessye Norman is set to give a commencement address at the New England Conservatory on Sunday, May 19, 2019.

The legendary artist will provide the keynote address at Jordan Hall in Boston.

Norman is no stranger to the commencement scene, having received over 40 honorary doctorate degrees throughout her career. She has also won five Grammy Awards and has been celebrated at the NAACP Spingarn Award, the Kennedy Center Honor, and the National Medal of the Arts.

She has also championed such organizations as the New York Botanical Garden, Carnegie Hall, the Dance Theatre of Harlem, the New York Public Library, the Lupus Alliance, and the Partnership for the Homeless. She also heads the Jessye Norman School of Arts in Georgia, which helps middle school-age children develop their talents and abilities.
