Starting on June 2, 2020, Coccia Theatre in Novara, Italy will be streaming “Alienati,” the first Smart Working Opera.

The new work will feature music by Federico Biscione, Alberto Cara, Cristian Carrara, Federico Gon and Marco Taralli, with a libretto by Vincenzo De Vivo. Roberto Recchia directs a cast that includes  Alfonso Antoniozzi, Daniela Barcellona, Roberto De Candia, Sofia Frizza, Luciano Ganci, Jessica Pratt, Davinia Rodriguez, Giorgia Serracchiani, and Nicola Ulivieri.

The opera focuses on a group of characters forced to stay home due to an alien invasion and how they all deal with the fallout of the event. Additionally, audience members will get a chance to participate in deciding the fate of the characters.

“The Coccia Theatre hasn’t stopped,” declares Corinne Baroni, general and artistic manager of the company in a press release. “As I have often said and will continue to say”. From the first moment of lockdown we continued to keep the light of art alive, and keep the public company at home, from home. But I wanted to do something more, I wanted artists to feel the closeness of our theatre, to understand that there is still a way to write, play, sing, create… I know these means will never replace the uniqueness of a live show, but it will give a true example of how art never stops, and much more: it will also offer a sense of solidarity and community”.
