Jessica Pratt Cancels Upcoming Performances Due to Family Matter

Jessica Pratt has canceled upcoming performances due to a family matter.

The soprano took to social media and said, “I want to thank everyone who has called and sent messages of concern. I am okay, but on Friday, my father’s oncologist shared some difficult news. I have decided to cancel all my engagements and have flown to Australia to spend this time with him. He has been battling terminal cancer for over ten years now, and I continue to be deeply impressed by his strength and resilience. I am truly sorry to all those who had planned to see me in Munich or Catania, but my dad has always been there for me, and I need to be there for him now.”

She concluded, “I sincerely thank everyone for their understanding, especially the @bayerischestaatsoper and the @teatromassimobellini di Catania, for their support during this very difficult time.”

Pratt was set to sing two more performances of “Die Zuaberflote” at the Bayerische Staatsoper and will be replaced by Aigul Khismatullina, who recently sang the Queen of the Night at the Metropolitan Opera. In Catania, she was set to perform the title role of “Norma” and will be replaced by Irina Lungu, who will make her role debut.
