Jessica Pratt Announces Release Of ‘Il Castello di Kenilworth’

By Francisco Salazar

Jessica Pratt has announced the release of a recording of Donizetti’s “Il Castello di Kenilworth.”

The soprano announced via Facebook that the recent production at the Donizetti Opera Festival was slated to be released on DVD/Blu-ray and CD in the Spring of 2019.

The production, which was the centerpiece of the festival, starred Jessica Pratt and Carmela Remigio and was conducted by Riccardo Frizza. OperaWire raved about the production stating that the festival made “a compelling case for ‘Il Castello di Kenilworth’ to be given further consideration.”

“Il Castello di Kenilworth” was the first opera Donizetti wrote about the Tudor family and the first of three works which focus on Elizabeth specifically. The opera has been recorded twice with divas Mariella Devia and Janet Price taking on Elizabeth.

The upcoming DVD release will be the first time the opera is released in a video presentation.

Here is a clip Pratt shared on Facebook.
