Jessica Pratt, Ambrogio Maestri, & Martina Serafin Highlight Ópera de Las Palmas 2019 Season

The Ópera de Las Palmas has announced its 52nd season which is set to begin in February and run through June. This season, the company will showcase five repertory staples. Here is a look at what to expect.

Productions

The season begins with Verdi’s “Don Carlo” conducted by Sesto Quatrini. The new production for the Amigos Canarios de la Opera will star Sergio Escobar in the title role alongside Rebeka Lokar as Elisabetta, Giovanni Meoni as Posa, and mezzosoprano Varduhi Abrahamyan as Eboli.

Performance Dates: Feb. 19-23, 2019

Yolanda Auyanet is set to take on the demanding role of Bellini’s “Norma” with Paola Gardina as Adalgisa and Alfred Kim as Pollione. The new production will be directed by  Mario Pontiggia and conducted by Marzio Conti.

Performance Dates: March 12-16, 2019

Martina Serafin and Fabio Sartori highlight Puccini’s “Tosca” with Ambrogio Maestri as the villainous Scarpia. Francesco Ivan Ciampa conducts the production.

Performance Dates: April 9-13, 2019

Mozart’s “Così Fan tutte” is set to star Claudia Pavone, Annalisa Stroppa, Paolo Fanale, and Carles Pachón. Guiseppe Sabatini will conduct the new production by Giulio Ciabatti.

Performance Dates: May 7-11, 2019

The season concludes with “La Sonnambula” by Bellini with coloratura sensation Jessica Pratt. She is joined by  Yijie Shi and Ricardo Fassi rounding out the leads. David Giménez conducts.

Performance Dates: June 4-8, 2019
