Jerusalem Lyric Opera Festival Announces 2023 Lineup

The Jerusalem Lyric Opera Festival has announced its 2023 Festival lineup, featuring works beloved by opera-goers. The Festival will run July 4-25, 2023.

The Jerusalem International Opera Competition kicks off the season in July. Favorite arias are on tap as singers compete before a jury comprising conductors, singers, and casting directors from several of the world’s top opera houses.

Performance Date: July 4-5, 2023

An Opening Gala Concert features a program of works by Bizet, Donizetti, Gounod, Mascagni, Mozart, Puccini, and Rossini.

Performance Date: July 8, 2023

Next up is an all-Grieg concert celebrating the songs of the Norwegian composer.

Performance Date: July 12, 2023

The Lyric Opera explores the vocal music of Ravel in Maurice Ravel: A Musical Journey.

Performance Date: July 16, 2023

Händel’s “Alcina.” kicks off the Festival’s opera productions.

Performance Date: July 17-23, 2023

Opera’s most famous diva, Maria Callas, will be feted with Homage of Maria Callas. The concert will present a music story of famous arias from Callas’ career.

Performance Date: July 20, 2023

Lyric Opera will present “Letters of Love,” showcasing arias by Handel, Monteverdi, and Mozart combined with instrumental pieces of the same era.

Performance Date: July 23, 2023

An Evening with Rachmaninoff will celebrate the composer’s music

Performance Date: July 24, 2023

The Bel Canto Concert will thrill audiences with arias by Rossini, Donizetti, Bellini, and De Falla. Works will complement these by Spanish composers.

Performance Date: July 24, 2023

Lyric Opera will celebrate Bizet’s “Carmen” with Homage to Carmen. The concert will feature melodies from “Carmen,” Ravel, and De Falla pieces.

Performance Date: July 25, 2023

The Festival will close with a performance of “Carmen.”
