Jennifer Rowley, Patrizia Ciofi & Karine Deshayes Headline Opéra de Marseille’s 2020-21 Season

Opéra de Marseille has announced its 2020-21 season featuring seven operas and a number of concerts.
Misha Didyk stars in Tchaikovsky’s “Pique Dame” with Barbara Haveman, Marie-Ange Todorovitch,  Marion Lebegue, Alexander Kasyanov, and Serban Vasile. Lawrence Foster conducts Olivier Py.

Performance Dates: Oct. 2-9, 2020

Roberto Rizzi Brignoli conducts  Nicola Berloffa’s production of Rossini’s “L’Italiana in Algeri” with Silvia Tro Santafe, Mirco Palazzi, Philippe Talbot, Florian Sempey, and Pablo Ruiz.

Performance Dates: Nov. 17-24, 2020

Angélique Boudeville and Enea Scala star in Puccini’s “La Bohème” with Lucrezia Drei, Alexandre Duhamel, Régis Mengus, and Alessandro Spina. Paolo Arrivabeni conducts Leo Nucci’s production.

Performance Dates: Dec. 20, 2020-Jan. 2, 2021

Jennifer Rowley star in the title role of Puccini’s “Tosca” with Marcelo Puente and Samuel Youn. Giuliano Carella conducts.

Performance Dates: Feb. 9-21, 2021

Paolo Arrivabeni conducts Louis Desire’s production of Verdi’s “Lusia Miller.” Zuzana Markova sings the title role alongside Sophie Koch, Stefano Secco, Gezim Myshketa, and Nicolas Courjal.

Performance Dates: March 23-30, 2021

Patrizia Ciofi, Julien Dran, Jean-François Laponte, and Patrick Bolleire star in Bizet’s “The Pearl Fishers.” Gaspard Brecourt conducts the concert version.

Performance Dates: April 11-14, 2021

Roberto Rizzi Brignoli conducts Charles Roubaud’s production of Meyerbeer’s “L’Africaine.” The opera stars Karine Deshayes, Hélène Carpentier, Laurence Janot, Florian Laconi, Florian Sempey, Jean Teitgen, Christophe Berry, François Lis, Cyril Rovery, and Antoine Garcin.

Performance Dates: June 5-13, 2021

Concerts 

Gabriel Bebeselea conducts Enesco’s “Les Fantômes” with Rodica Vica, Alin Anca, Tiberius Simu, and Bogdan Baciu. The program also includes music by Grieg.

Performance Date: April 23, 2021

Lawrence Foster conducts a program with Berlioz, Tomasi, and Dukas with soloists Anthony Abel and Marc Scoffoni.

Performance Date: April 30, 2021
