By Afton Wooten

Opera Naples is to take part in the EuroFest by presenting a concert staring baritone Jeffrey Goldberg and soprano Claudia Cespedes Calderon.

This portion of EuroFest will include live performances while patrons enjoy a three-course Italian dinner. Opera Naples’ Director of Education and Community Outreach Robin Shuford Frank accompanies Goldberg and Calderon on the piano.

Goldberg has been praised for his roles as Gugliemo from Mozart’s “Così fan tutte,” Dr. Falke and Eisenstein in “Die
Fledermaus” by Johann Strauss, Claudio in Berlioz’s “Beatrice et Benedict,” Bartolo and Antonio from Mozart’s “Le nozze di Figaro,” Peter in Humperdink’s “Hansel and Gretel,” and many more. He has also appeared in concerts including Händel’s “Messiah,” Mozart’s “Requiem,” and Beethoven’s “Symphony No. 9.”

Peruvian soprano Calderon performs regularly as both a soloist and choir member. She was a member of the National Children’s Choir of Peru and won Third Prize in the National Association of Teachers of Singing and Second Place in the Elite Music International competition. She will graduate from Florida Gulf Coast University this year.

Following the concert, Ramón Tebar, the company’s Artistic and Music Director will provide insights into Opera Naples’ upcoming season and annual Festival Under the Stars. The evening on August 15 begins at 6 p.m. and will be held at Alberto’s on Fifth.
