This week there will be two major releases. One of the releases will be a solo album with waltzes and the other a new production from Vienna.
Jonas Kaufmann takes audiences on a personal voyage with melodies from the birthplace of waltz and operetta. Accompanied by Vienna Philharmonic conducted by Ádám Fischer and featuring soprano Rachel Willis-Sorensen, the new album features arias and duets from composers Johann Strauss, Franz Lehr, Robert Stolz, Peter Cruder, and Hermann Leopoldi. Sony Classical releases the CD.

Samuel Youn takes on the title role in Wagner’s early work. A performance from the Theater an der Wien, the cast also includes Ingela Brimberg, Lars Woldt, and Bernard Richter. Marc Minkowski conducts the production by Olivier Pys. Naxos releases the new DVD.
