Soprano Christiane Hossfeld will not be appearing in the role of Papagena in the upcoming presentation of Mozart’s “Die Zauberflöte” scheduled for January 24, 2020, according to the official statement on the company’s website.
As a result, soprano Jeannette Oswald will perform in her stead. Oswald will join a cast that includes Tilmann Rönnebeck in the role of Sarastro, Rocío Pérez in the role of the Queen of the Night, Evelin Novak as Pamina, Tomislav Mužek in the role of Tamino, and Bernhard Hansky appearing as Papageno.
Oswald has recently been seen in the role of Paquette in Bernstein’s “Candide” and Sylviane in Lehár’s “Die lustige Witwe,” among others. Moritz Gnann is set to conduct the production by Achim Freyer.
Christiane Hossfeld is still set to appear in the role of Papagena for the presentation of January 29. The run of “Die Zauberflöte” at the Semperoper Dresden ends on July 6, 2020.
